Pudding

Forever in our hearts

Pudding, it's been 3 months since you left us, and we've missed you every single day. You went too soon, and we wish you could have seen everything that's happened since that heartbreaking day in March. You'd have been so intrigued by the little squares we cover our face with, the daily jumping and flailing on soft mats, the views of empty streets from the windows you loved so much. They say it's a virus that caused it, but I know it was your way of giving us some peace and quiet to recover from the past 6 months. You always knew when we were hurting, or distraught. You'd just come and sit next to us, or even on us, and everything would feel better. We'd call you "empathy cat" because of how you'd come sit next to Mamie when she was upset or crying. But really, you weren't just our empathy cat, you were our everything cat. Deloitte cat, Bangalore cat, HSR cat, Serenity cat, Diwali cat, Wedding cat, US cat, Magnolia cat, Mercantile cat, Christmas cat. You loved earbuds, and green beans, and grapes, and tiger balm, and black chair, and castle, and bubbles, and mirror light, and string, and scratch pad. You enjoyed napping, and stretching, and getting stomach kisshies, and drinking from tap, and walking on us, and sitting on Dadie's chest and taking beard love, and feeling the breeze in your face, and sitting on window sills and looking out at the big, wide world. You were a little fluff puff, with the biggest personality and soul. It always amazed us. Dadie thought cats were supposed to be aloof and indifferent, but not you. You liked being included, and involved, and attached, and around us. What an adventure you had travelling 10,000 miles across the globe with us! You helped Mamie with her studies, and kept her company when Dadie would travel for work. You’d wait patiently in the hallway waiting for us to return, or scuttle around on parquet floors, or come up with new ways to make us love you more. And we loved you. We loved you so very, very much, Pudding. You were our heart, our internal organ. We loved your gentle vibrating purring, your eyes, your presence. You were our babygirl. You gave us a lifetime of joy and love condensed into just six and a half years. But we know you had to go. We know you needed to rest easy, and not worry about all of that horrible medical stuff that you didn’t enjoy, but endured so patiently, and bravely. We grieve for you but know you’re always with us, with every little strand of fluff that sticks to everything we own. Thank you for being the love of our lives. You’ll always be our darling cat.
