Jewels

Forever in our hearts
Jewels was an apricot white cockapoo. She was a year-old rescue animal from Wildwood, NJ, who entered my life when I lived at Arnold Addison Court in State College, PA, for seven years. I often shared her love on a regular basis with my son, Frank, who lives in a house with a spacious yard in nearby Boalsburg, PA. Jewels was always willing to lick the faces of my daughter. Penny, when she came to visit with any of her three children (my grandkids) or granddaughter (my great granddaughter Mila). Jewels died unexpectedly after she had a bad reaction to a leptospirosis vaccination in June 2015. Her warm personality is sorely missed by my entire family. Jewels liked to bark at almost anything on four feet that appeared on the TV screen (nature specials, dogfood commercials, etc.). When my son and I were watching "Jurassic Park" on the DVD player for the first time, Jewels was unimpressed with the special effects team that crafted the computer generated dinosaurs and sat silently. However, when Stan Winston's animatronic Dilophosaurus - the venom-spitting, frill-necked beast that eventually feasted on the film's villain - made her purring/clicking sounds when she peered at her intended victim from behind a tree, Jewels lifted her head back and howled (unfortunately, there was no full moon). We replayed the scene several times, but Jewels never repeated her hilarious behavior.
