Gira
Forever in our hearts
Gira was a special girl. She was always ready to go for an adventure or visit friends. At the age of 10 she was diagnosed with Synovial cancer in her front left leg which led to the tormenting decision to amputate her leg. I was afraid of how she would or if she could adjust to being a tripawd. My worries were unfounded as she was able to make adjustments in her activities to be just about as active as she was prior to her surgery. She still loved the snow and running the beach. She was able to bring joy to residents in care facilities as an SPCA Pet Outreach dog. I don't think I realized the strength she was able to give to me just watching her. She was a survivor and remained active until I lost her December 19, 2014. I lost my best friend that day.
